In the news...

week 5

9/13/2016

It was great to see so many of you at the Opening Social and Film Festival on Saturday! I want to give a special shout-out to Collaborative members Jennifer Racusin, Julie Manz, Aishat Hampton and Joanne Wijesundera (now in the Hybrid program) for organizing and running this great event. If you missed it, be sure to check in today’s DVIA newsletter for links to the playlist and more info about how to participate going forward.

A great way to connect with other families is to attend events such as the Opening Social and our Scooter’s Jungle fundraiser (this Tuesday, 9/13). Be sure to pick up your tickets in the DVIA front office. See the newsletter for details.

A few of you have asked for more information about Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) and Exhibition. We will have a chat to discuss these topics on Monday 9/19, 9-10am. Please RSVP. There is also a document called SLC Outline on the Resources page of our DP that hits all the highlights about SLCs. You can schedule your SLC appointment here.

I have put together a document outlining some strategies for looking at student growth. It is attached and also on our DP. Please take a look and start thinking about what strategies might be helpful to you. I will follow up on this next week. Info about MAPs assessments is also attached and you can RSVP here.

Would you like to see an easy-to-digest snapshot of the learning goals for Math and ELA? They can be found on the davincik8.org website and on our DP work journal page.

Don’t forget our…
  • Mural Workshop for students, led by Kary, tomorrow at noon-1pm. RSVP
  • Handwriting Without Tears workshop for home educators, tomorrow from 1-3pm. RSVP
    • I will distribute HWT workbooks to everyone at the workshop. If you are not able to attend, you can pick one up from me later in the week.
