My name is Jennifer Racusin and I am Arthur's mom. He'll be starting 2nd grade in August and this will be our 3rd year in the Collaborative program. Arthur has become very passionate about all things rockets and space travel and there are a bunch of space related events happening over the next couple of weeks. I thought I would send the info out to all of you and see if anyone wants to join us.
August 15 - Tour of Vandenberg AFB
We went to go see a SpaceX Falcon9 launch earlier this summer at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc. There is a Space and Missile Heritage Center that does tours every third Tuesday of the month. I am planning to take Arthur this month.
August 19 - Rocket Fever event at the Columbia Memorial Space Center
I recently found this space center in Downy. We have yet to go, but are planning on going for this rocket festival. Description below.
LA’s only urban rocket festival, Rocket Fever, returns!Learn to build and launch different types of rockets! We’ll even be giving out FREE rockets to everyone (while supplies last).
We’ll show you how to build your own rocket in a Rocket Building Class – $5 per rocket/class or FREE for members (**One rocket per membership).
Food for the day provided by:
Romolo’s Italian Cuisine
Hands-on activities like water rockets, straw rockets, stomp rockets!
The Amoeba People will rock out with us as well!
August 24 - Falcon 9 Launch
And finally, SpaceX is doing another rocket launch this month. My family is planning on driving out to see it and we're also thinking about continuing up the coast and spending the weekend camping in the Big Sur area.
Email me at (contact Janette) if you're planning on going to any of these events so that we can coordinate.
