As Ethel and I develop the program, we always keep in mind ways that we can support all of us in building community. Please take advantage of our social gatherings, learning-on-the-go opportunities, multi-age workshops and yahoo groups to stay connected and support each other. You will hear more about each of these things at our group meetings today and tomorrow at Del Aire Park @1pm. In addition to what we offer, I encourage you to join in to social and learning opportunities other parents organize and maybe initiate something yourself.
Some of you may be experiencing a brief moment of panic, wondering if you can do this. You absolutely CAN! You have an entire community filled with people who want nothing more than to support you. Remember, just as you would not expect your child to get on base their first time at bat or every time at bat, you must give yourself the same opportunity to try, fail, succeed, learn and grow as an educator. Teaching is a lifelong apprenticeship. Take a look at the Parent Educator Survival Guide for some first weeks tips.
