Navajo culture project: This week we learned a bit about the history of the Navajo and we will continue learning small chunks each week. We watched videos highlighting a Navajo textile artist, learned some of the history of weaving and started work on a paper weaving. Next week, we will finish the paper weaving and start a yarn piece. We will incorporate the yarn weaving into our afternoon mindfulness time.
Biomes and Mammals project: Work continues on our small biome group 6ft x 10ft backdrops. Jennifer Racusin, artist extraordinaire and Connect parent came in to share about her process in creating puppets and to share some background information. She will be supporting us as we move forward and begin work on our marionettes.
Mammals at the Natural History Museum field trip cancelled due to insufficient participation.
Professional Development Day - March 6th - Next Friday, there is no homeschooling required, but teachers will be meeting all day to do important work for our school. On the calendar, March 13th was originally designated as the PD day, but it has been changed to March 6th. That means that March 13th is now a homeschooling day for all Collaborative students.
